Kindergarten

Your child’s elementary journey begins with our Kindergarten program. Our program will provide your child with a solid foundation on which to start their elementary years. We focus on the intellectual, social, emotional and biblical needs of your child in order to give them the education they need to grow. Our licensed teacher has a small classroom size which allows us to provide each child more one-on-one time and individualized learning opportunities. This allows us to give each student the attention they need to prosper in the classroom. Our program is a licensed by the State of Tennessee, and is a category one school. This helps to make the transition from kindergarten to first grade seamless. *Kindergarten is offered at our Southwind campus.
Kindergarten Curriculum

Our teachers may also supplement lessons based on the needs and interest of our students. Your child will be given a solid foundation of learning, while in a faith-based classroom.

Bible

Abeka Bible lessons take Kindergarteners through the old and new testament throughout the school year. Children will learn non-denominational lessons on the Salvation Series, Genesis Series, the Life of Christ Series, and Missionary Stories. Memory verses and prayer are incorporated into daily classroom activities, helping to teach our students how to live through Christ.

Language Arts

Abeka’s language arts program includes Phonics, Reading, Language concepts, and writing skills. Students enjoy a variety of activities as they learn and review vowel and consonant sounds, blends, one and two-vowel words, words with special sounds and sentence comprehension. As children advance in their phonics skills, they will begin reading our Basic Phonic Readers. These small books are a great starting point to begin reading skills. These books take the phonic skills and put them into action. As children advance, a variety of books and reading levels are introduced to challenge students. Concepts such as opposites, rhyming, classifying, grouping, positional words, and deductive reasoning will be taught. Vocabulary skills development will work to teach similarities and differences, complete statements, and the use of simple analogies and descriptive words. Kindergarteners will be taught good writing posture, proper pencil position and slanted paper position to help them learn to write. As their first year of elementary school progresses you will see tremendous growth in your child, ensuring they are well prepared for first grade.
